Frederick Rauh & Company.
Frederick Rauh, a German immigrant, began his Cincinnati fire insurance business in 1872. He also became president of the Germania Fire & Marine Insurance Co. in 1887. Several family members worked for Frederick Rauh & Co., which wrote policies for a number of American and European companies, especially Great American Insurance Company. Frederick Rauh & Co. was purchased in 1987 by a subsidiary of Great American Insurance Company. In 1993, Acordia, Inc. acquired the subsidiary, and Frederick Rauh & Co. became known as Acordia/Rauh.
