Fulton (Johns Hopkins, M.D. 1925) interned and did residency training at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston, 1926-1931, and was visiting physician on staff, 1931-1946. He taught in the Department of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, 1929-1946. In 1938 he also acted as assistant to the dean of the Medical School. After service in the army from 1942 to 1945, he practiced internal medicine and taught at Brown University at Rhode Island Hospital. He became professor emeritus in 1963 and retired from practice in 1977.
