Born in Quincy in Gadsden County, Florida, on March 3, 1893. Graduated from Florida A&M College, Oskaloosa College, and Hampton Institute. First principal of Lincoln High School, the first African-American high school in Gainesville, Fla. Longtime member of the Greater Bethel AME Chuch in Gainesville.
