Prudden, Emily.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut. Founder of approximately sixteen mission schools located in western North and South Carolina. Established Oberlin Home and School, forerunner of Pfeiffer University. Key figure in development of Christian mission school movement and African-American education in Appalachia.
