Joyes, John, 1834-
Variant namesConfederate soldier. A lieutenant in Byrne's Horse Artillery of General John Hunt Morgan's Cavalry, Joyes was captured near Salineville, Ohio, 26 July 1863. He was imprisoned at the U.S. military prison at Johnson's Island, Ohio, for the remainder of the war, being released on 12 June 1865 and returning home to Louisville, Ky.
