Steele, G. P. (George Peabody), 1924-
Variant namesGeorge Peabody Steele (b. 1924) was born in San Francisco, California. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1944, and advanced to the rank of vice admiral in 1973. He commanded Anti-Submarine Warfare Group 4 from 1970 to 1972, then the U.S. Seventh Fleet from 1973 until his retirement from navy service in 1975.
