The Chamber of Commerce of the United States, which held its first annual meeting on January 21, 1913, is the nation's largest and most influential busuiness lobbying organization. For a fuller history, see the main entry (DEHV89-A15).

Research Department records include the published proceedings of Chamber of Commerce sponsored conferences on economic and business issues. Subjects include international trade, labor-management relations, transportation policy, pension plans, urban problems, international cartels, the wholesale and retail trade, securities regulation, the international monetary system (reports from the Bretton Woods Conference), agricultural policy, highway safety, commercial forestry. Also included are reports from the Chamber's Economic Institute, bulletins, "You and Your Congress," and opinion surveys on various aspects of public policy.
