Dr. Bryant graduated from Shaw University with a B.S.S. degree in 1940. From then until 1947 he was a preacher, although he had no church. In 1947, he entered Howard University, receiving a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1950. Later he received a M.A. degree from New York University and a doctorate in education from the University of Virginia in 1959. He taught at Augusta County Training School, the Virginia Theological Seminary, Jackson College, and served as Academic Dean of Florida Memorial College before taking the position at South Carolina State College at Orangeburg.
