Churchward, C. Maxwell (Clerk Maxwell)
Variant namesThe Rev. Dr. C. M. Churchward, who died in Suva in 1968, was a noted linguist. As a Methodist missionary at Rotuma in the 1930s, he prepared grammars and dictionaries in the Rotuman, Fijian and Tongan languages, and revised the Tongan version of the Bible.
