Gary Batson attended Fordham University, New York, majoring in English and Psychology; he received a Masters in Fine Arts from Columbia University School of Arts and Sciences. He has done public relations work for WNET Channel 13, the Frederick Douglas Creative Arts Center, and Gallery magazines. He was Assistant to the Director of Newsfeed, CBS News, 1980-1983, and Assistant Editor at the Foundation Center Library, 1984. Batson was also an editor for The Brooklyn Newsletter, and also wrote for The Amsterdam News, and was a reporter for the Trans-Urban News Service. His memberships include the Public Relations Society of America, Dramatist Guild, Negro Ensemble Company, American Film Insitute. Batson contributed plays to the Frank Silvera Writers Workshop.
