Leonard George Johnson, a graduate of Sheffield University, was a leading figure in the adult education movement in Yorkshire. His lecturing career began in 1925, under the Miners' Welfare Scheme, and continued, from 1929, at the University of Leeds, where he held a number of posts, before retiring as a Senior Lecturer in Economics and Commerce in 1959. He died in September 1969
