Residents of Wyoming. In 1934, William D. Sidley purchased Hawkes-Huston Ranch (3,500 acres) in Wyoming with assistance from his father, William P. Sidley, a corporate lawyer. Name changed to Silver Spur Ranches. Ranch spread to about 11,000 acres in 1986. Included in the original purchase was a small herd of Herefords commercial cows. In 1954 the Sidleys began breeding Charolais cattle. Ranch was sold in 1986.
