Jesse Robertson was born to a Spokane family and later allowed to take the name of Lillian's family by her request. Lillian was a wealthy, childless woman from New York who wished to adopt Jesse. Jesse became a composer who used biblical instruments, making them when he could not buy them. A collection of his instruments now resides at Whitworth College in Spokane. Jesse's wife Margaret was a nurse who practiced at the Whitworth Infirmary & taught at the Intercollegiate Nursing Center.
