Messenger family.
Dr. John Hole was born in New Jersey in 1755. He moved west following the American Revolution. He was the first physician in Dayton, Ohio. He was a direct descendant of Egbert, the first King of England and of Alfred the Great.
Asa Isham was a pioneer physician in Jackson, Ohio. He was the maternal grandfather of Dr. Asa C. Messenger.
Dr. Asa C. Messenger was born Nov. 26, 1861 in Jackson, Ohio. He graduated from the Medical College of Ohio in Cincinnati in 1884. He opened practice in Xenia, Ohio in 1903. A prominent citizen, and friend to Governor McKinley, he served on the boards of many local organizations including a bank and the Y.M.C.A. He died in 1938.
Dr. Harold Clay Messenger, Sr. was the son of Asa Messenger. Born in 1891 in Carlton, Ohio he received his medical degree from the Medical Chiurgical college of Philadelphia, now the Graduate School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Greene County Medical Society and served as its president for one term. He was a veteran of WWI and died in 1954.
Dr. Harold Clay Messenger, Jr. is the son of Harold Clay Messenger, Sr. He is a retired orthopedic surgeon. He was born in 1919 and received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1944.
