Griner, John, 1830-1907
Variant namesCarpenter, cabinetmaker, and soldier; b. in Erie, N.Y.; migrated to Crawford County, Ohio; served with 3rd Ohio Volunteer Cavalry as wagoner until June 1863 when was injured by a runaway team; hospitalized at Louisville, Ky., for 1 year and then spent further time at Camp Dennison, Ohio, while recovering from his injuries; transferred to 87th Company, 2nd Battalion, U.S. Veteran Reserve Corps until discharged in 1864; then settled in Scotch Ridge, Wood County, Ohio; in 1884 moved to Samaria, Monroe County, Mich.; d. in Temperance, Mich.
