In 1967, Carol Shelby and his specialty high-performance car company Shelby American, Inc. entered into a sales and distribution agreement with Ford Motor Company. Under the agreement, Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealers throughout the United States were granted sales contracts to distribute high-performance Shelby GT's including the GT-350 and GT-500. Ford and Shelby cancelled the agreement in March 1970.
