Clore, Walter J.
Walter J. Clore worked as a horticulturist for WSU from 1936 to 1976, mainly at WSU's Irrigated Agricultural Research Extension Center (IAREC) in Prosser, Washington. His viticultural research, especially on the problems of european wine grapes, played an indispensable role in the expansion of Washington viticulture. After retirement from WSU, Dr. Clore worked as consultant to the wine industry, most notably for Ste. Michelle Vineyards. Dr. Clore has often been referred to as the "father of the Washington wine industry."
