Carson Abel Roberts (b. 1905), native of Lancaster, Wis., was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and the Command and General Staff College. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in 1929, and during World War II, served as Operations officer in the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. After the war, he was Chief of Aviation Section of the Marine Corps schools and later became assistant chief of staff for the Marine Air Reserve Training Command at Glenview, Ill. During the Korean Conflict, Roberts served as deputy chief of staff and was promoted to chief of staff of the 1st Marine Aircraft Command. In 1962, Roberts was promoted to Lt. General and became commanding general of the Pacific Fleet Marine Force.
