Asher, Virginia Healey, 1869-1937
Variant namesChristian worker, evangelist, vocalist; born December 18, 1869; married William Asher, 1887; with her husband held evangelistic meetings and participated in church work in Chicago, had evangelistic ministry in Duluth, joined J. Wilbur Chapman in his national and international ministry, worked in association with Billy and Helen Sunday's evangelistic outreach (particularly establishing Bible classes for women in industry and business, later known as Virginia Asher Councils), which worked to continue the impact of a Billy Sunday campaign; formed the National Council (1922) and became honorary president of the National Federation of the Virginia Asher Business Women's Councils, 1923; also recognized for her singing ability; died in 1937.
