Born in Wilmington, Ohio, Edwin Smith Savage (1893-1964) attended the University of Texas, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1920. Although he subsequently held jobs in various states, he maintained his involvement with the University. During the 1940s he was President of the New York City/northern New Jersey Texas Exes. In 1942 he drove to Austin with a friend and took extensive slides of the university campus and buildings. He showed these slides to Texas-Exes in New York City.
