In 1982 Victims Rights Week became an annual event on the Boise State University campus. Utilizing community resources, it offered seminars, panels, and activities to expose the human consequences of violence. Boise State University Criminal Justice Professor Jane Foraker-Thompson initiated the week and coordinated its events from conception in 1983 until 1995. In 1986 Boise State University and Foraker-Thompson initiated a second yearly conference designed to increase awareness to both male and female students and the community, the inter-personal dynamics surrounding sexual assault.
