Edgar L. Heermance received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Yale (B.A., 1897; M.A., 1899; B.D., 1901). After serving for seventeen years as a minister and frontier missionary in Minnesota, he returned to New Haven in 1919 and devoted himself to study and writing. Beginning in 1936 he was also active in New England forestry, serving as an officer of several trade and environmental organizations. These are his major publications:
