Davidoff, Ida Fisher.
Ida Fisher Davidoff was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1903, to Maimie Lurensky and Jacob Fisher, Lithuanian Jewish immigrants. She attended Simmons College (A.B. 1924) and Radcliffe College (A.M. 1925). She married Leo Davidoff, a neurosurgeon, in 1926; they had four children: Helen, Leonore, Frank, and Mary. The Davidoffs lived in New Canaan, Connecticut, where Ida was active in the League of Women Voters, Hadassah, and the PTA. When her children were grown, she studied family therapy at Yale, University of Pennsylvania, and Columbia (Ed.D. 1961) focusing on the lives and mental health of older women. Through her studies and work as a counselor, Ida Davidoff became an advocate for aging women. She died in 2001.
