Alden, Alanson.
Samuel Alden was the son of Alanson Alden. Samuel enlisted in the Independent Company, 4th Michigan Infantry on Feb. 25, 1864 at Scipio (Mich.) at the age of 19. He was mustered on April 5, 1864 and died of disease near Petersburg (Va.) on Aug. 10, 1864. Alanson Alden lived in Manilla (Erie County, N.Y.), and later Jonesville (Hillsdale County, Mich.). John A. Alden may have been Samuel's brother.
