The Hicksite General Committee, a standing committee appointed by the yearly meeting to represent it when the latter was not in session, first met in 10mo 1827 with James Mott serving as Clerk. It became Representative Committee in 1829, and was also referred to as the Representative Committee or Meeting for Sufferings from 1838-1912.
