Members of the Bancker family included Evert Bancker (1721-1803), his cousins Gerard Bancker (1740-1799) and Evert Bancker, Jr. (1734- ), and Charles Nicoll Bancker (1778-1869), son of Evert, Jr. The elder Evert Bancker was partner with Gerard Bancker and from 1767 until 1776 they were the principal provisioners to the British forces in New York City. Evert Bancker was also a deputy to the 2nd-4th Provisional Congresses of New York, speaker of the new State Assembly, and a member of the Committee of Safety, later the Council of Safety. Gerard Bancker was treasurer of the province and then state of New York. His brother Evert Bancker, Jr., was a surveyor, merchant and loyalist in New York City. Charles N. Bancker was president of the Franklin Fire Insurance Company of Philadelphia from 1837 to 1869, a naturalist and an astronomer.
