A.D. Ellis & Son (Monson, Mass.)
This woolen mill was one of several belonging to Dwight W. Ellis; some were owned in partnership with E. Julius Converse. Ellis purchased the mill site in Monson, Mass. in 1872. Around 1875, Arthur D. Ellis became a partner, and the firm was known as D.W. Ellis & Son. The name eventually became A.D. Ellis & Son. The mill originally produced fine cassimeres but by the 1920's it was manufacturing broadcloth, billiard cloth, uniform cloth and jerseys. By the late 1930's automobile and uniform cloth were its only products. The company closed in 1961.
