New Mexico. Taxation and Revenue Dept.
The Taxation and Revenue Department was established by a legislative act in 1977 (1977 Laws of N.M., Chp. 249, Sec. 4). The same 1977 legislative act abolished the Bureau of Revenue, Oil and Gas Accounting Commission, and Property Tax Department and transferred their functions to the newly-established Taxation and Revenue Department (1977 Laws of N.M., Chp. 249, Sec. 12). The Taxation and Revenue Department is the central collecting agency for revenue generated by taxes assessed by the State of New Mexico. The Department is also responsible for administering all laws relating to taxation and revenue in New Mexico.
