Walter Gibbons from San Francisco, CA, graduated with the Norwich University class of 1931. While at Norwich, he played football and was a member of the track team and the glee club. He also served on the sophomore banquet and junior prom committees and on the staff of the War Whoop. Walter Gibbons was a rifle and pistol marksman and a saber expert. He was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity and the Skull and Swords. After graduating from Norwich, he worked for various contracting companies as superintendent. He later moved to Okinawa where he worked for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and then for the 20th Air Force. He was chief project engineer for the design and construction of facilities in Okinawa and Guam. Walter Gibbons was very active in the Norwich class agent program, serving as class agent from 1980 until 1987.
