Cogswell, William H. (William Harvey), 1831-1902.
William Harvey Cogswell (1831-1902) was a printer and binder with Walker, Evans & Cogswell Co. of Charleston, South Carolina. When William H. Cogswell joined the firm in 1855 it was known as Walker & Evans. From 1856-1860, it was called Walker, Evans & Company. During the American Civil War, the company moved to Columbia, South Carolina, and operated under the name Evans & Cogswell, Confederate Government Printers and Lithographers. It was finally incorporated under the name Walker, Evans & Cogswell Co. in 1887.
