Kenyon, Alfred S. (Alfred Stephen), 1867-1943
Variant namesA.S. Kenyon joined the Victorian Public Service in 1887 and worked successively in the Departments of Public Works, Water Supply and Agriculture. In 1911 he returned to the reorganised State Rivers and Water Supply Commission. He was a Commissioner when he retired in 1935. Kenyon was a member of the Council of the Historical Society of Victoria from 1911 until his death in 1943 and its President from 1931 until 1935.

Engineer, ethnologist and historian. Kenyon worked in various branches of the Victorian government overseeing water supply and irrigation. He was the author of, among other works, "Pastures new" (1930) and "Pastoral pioneers of Port Phillip" (1932). Collected aboriginal implements and was an early advocate of legislative protection of the material Aboriginal heritage.
