The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is one of the seven bands of Ojibwe federally recognized in Minnesota. Since opening their first casinos, the tribe became the first in the country to fund a tribal health center with gaming funds. These first two casino business would also lead to the opening of almost thirty tribal businesses. Their Nation consists of four districts, one of which is the Urban Distract for off-reservation members. Their education system puts an emphasis on cultural and traditional teachings. The communities that are part of this nation include Neyaashing; Minisinaakwaang; Sandy Lake; Minnewawa; Aazhoomog; Hinckley; Chiminising in Isle.
