Born on March 6, 1890, in Independence, Missouri. Served in the U.S. Army as a field clerk in France during World War I, and worked for the Kansas City police force from 1910 to 1918. Married Floyd Viola and had two children, Betty and Robert. Worked for the Federal Narcotics' Bureau in Kansas City, Missouri in 1922 when he was recruited by Denver, Colorado District Attorney Philip Van Cise. Van Cise, later known as the district attorney who broke the Ku Klux Klan in Colorado, was investigating a bunko case in 1922. Maiden came to Denver to work on the bunko case for Van Cise. He returned to Federal service in 1924 until he retired. Returned to work from 1959 to 1965 as town marshall of Empire, Colorado and served as historian for the Colorado Sheriffs' and Peace Officers' Association. He died May 17, 1976.
