Charles P. "Pop" and Delphine Squires came to Las Vegas in 1905 and quickly established themselves as community leaders. Charles acquired hotel, banking, lumber, and utility interests and became the publisher of the Las Vegas age newspaper. Delphine was an early member of the forerunner to the Parent Teacher Association and was active in church activities, local women's clubs and civic groups. The Squires wrote many historical articles and stories, including a history of Las Vegas.
