Hoel, Eldon L., 1922-
Hoel grew up on a farm in Wisconsin and served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946.
He served aboard ABSD-4, an auxiliary floating dry dock that was anchored in the Admiralty Islands. After discharge at the rank of yeoman first class, he worked in the city clerk's office in Madison (Wisconsin), rearranged the city's files using the Navy filing system, and reached the position of city clerk, which he held for 23 years.
