Parry was a businessman and politician in Oneida County, N.Y. He served as county treasurer from 1858 to 1866 and was active in the county Democratic Party. Parry's business interests included real estate, a men's clothing business, a lime kiln and a masonry construction firm. Parry became a financial partner with Griffith W. Jones, the owner of a men's clothing business in Rome, N.Y. Jones was involved in other mercantile firms in the Rome area, including Jones and Root and Jones and Ripinski, both firms seem to be general mercantile businesses.
Parry's business activities included his own firm, a masonry construction business, with which he later formed a partnership with Jones to form Jones and Parry. He was active in Oneida County real estate, owning a large amount of rental property, especially in the Rome area. His interest in the lime kiln does not seem to be evident until after Jones' death in 1888.
