Olof Lundin was born in lvadelen, Dalarna, Sweden, in 1862, the son of Lars Larson and Anna Olson. Originally known as Olof Larson, he dropped the patronymic and took the name Lundin when the family immigrated to Minnesota in 1880. Lundin settled in Dassel, located in Meeker County, where he farmed land originally bought by his father, and died in 1951.
In 1885, Lundin married Kirstin Nilson, born in Torsby, Vrmland, Sweden in 1860. The couple had seven children, six of which survived to adulthood. The compiler, Gael Lundin Turnbull, is the son of Anne Lundin Turnbull, the youngest of Olof and Kirstin's surviving daughters.
