First National Bank of Shawneetown.
Gallatin County bank established in 1865 through reorganization of Peeples and Ridgway, a banking concern founded by John M. Peeples and Thomas S. Ridgway in 1862. William D. Phile, William Peeples, George A. Ridgway, A. K. Lowe, and H. O. Docker were also involved in bank operations. Bank conducted business from lobby of a building constructed in 1839 by Bank of Illinois at Shawneetown (chartered by territorial government in 1816). Bank was voluntarily liquidated in 1911 following death of Thomas Ridgway's widow.
