Medical educator, researcher and practitioner; M.D., U. of Pennsylvania, (1911); faculty, School of Medicine, U. of Pennsylvania, (1913-1953); credited with instituting psychiatric services at the Hospital, U. of Pennsylvania, (1947); invented Miller-Abbott tube (1934) with W. Osler Abbott which revolutionized gastrointestinal diagnosis, treatment and surgery.
