Naturalist.

Born on January 30, 1886 in Pasadena, California. He earned a B.S. from Pomona College, majoring in zoology/ornithology, and a MS and PhD in zoology and palenontology from the University of California, Berkeley. He directed education and research work of the California Fish and Game Commission (CFGC) and was editor of the new journal California Fish and Game. He assisted in organizing many national parks, including Olympia National Park and Grand Canyon National Park. While at Grand Canyon National Park, he discovered new species of birds, butterflies, and plants. He died Berkeley, California, on July 14, 1968.
