Life family.

Hide Profile

The Life family migrated from York County, Pennsylvania to Virginia. Martin (d.1797) and Anna Lantz Life moved to Crabbottom in Highland County between 1782 and 1786 to live on 160 acres inherited from her father, Bernard Lantz.

Samuel Life (1792-1872) shared in his father's estate when it was finally settled in 1816. After serving in the militia in 1814 in Captain Jacob Hull's Company, he patented sixty acres in 1819. While his brothers sold their inherited and patented land and moved away, Samuel remained in and around Highland County with his wife Ann Waybright Life, until his death.

Genealogical information about the Life family can be found in A History of the "Life" Family by Carlos A. Life.
