One of the earliest settlements in what became the State of Washington, was Olympia. It grew slowly from a mere clearing in the trees to a moderate-sized urban community. Established as the territorial capital in 1853, Olympia remains the center of state government. A significant part of the history of Olympia were the contributions and achievements of its women. This research paper attempts to bring into focus the achievements and notable personalities of the women of Olympia, WA with an emphasis on the years prior to 1925.
