Botanist and faculty member of the University of Arkansas, 1924-1957. Born Zanesville, Ohio, 1891; graduated Denison University, 1914; served in France during World War I as a medical department sergeant, 1917-1918; attended University of Montpelier, 1919; received doctorate from University of Ohio, 1924; visiting professor at universities in Saigon and Hue, Vietnam, 1958-1959; botany teacher at Arkansas Technical College, Russellville, 1961-1967; president and longtime member Arkansas Academy of Sciences. Married Elizabeth French Moore (1897-1965) and Clementine Winfrey Kizer Moore, donor of part of the collection.
