American artist, print maker and book illustrator, McGraw was born in Okemah, Oklahoma, in 1945. He attended the Otis Art Institute and the Cranbrook Academy of Art and taught fine art at Northern Kentucky University (1972-1975) and the University of San Diego (1978-1983). McGraw often collaborates with poets, incorporating their texts in his compositions, and has printed works at the Tamarind Institute, Brighton Press, Magnolia Press, and the Ernest de Soto Workshop.
