Biographical note: Attorney; James A. Zabriskie was born in 1844 in New Jersey, educated at West Point and Columbia, and moved to California where he joined the Lyon Guards at the start of the Civil War. He came to Tucson in 1878 in a covered wagon with Bishop John Baptiste Salpointe and Dr. Samaniego. He was appointed District Attorney of Arizona, served on the Arizona Board of Regents, and his law firm, Hereford & Zabriskie, advised many corporations.
