Francis Joseph Kernan (b. Oct. 19, 1859, Jacksonville, Florida-d. 1945, Daytona Beach, Florida), Major General, U.S. Army, graduated from West Point in 1881. He served in the Philippines and Cuba, and was commander, 8th Infantry Brigade in 1917. He organized and commanded the Services of Supply in France in 1917 and 1918, was a member of the U.S. Mission regarding treatment and exchange of prisoners of war with Germany, and served as technical military adviser to the U.S. Commission to Negotiate Peace in Paris in 1918 and 1919. He retired from active duty in December 1922.
