Smithurst, John, 1807-1867
Variant namesJohn Smithurst, Anglican missionary with the Church Missionary Society at the Red River Settlement from 1839 to 1851. He worked for the Hudson Bay Company as chaplain at Red River from 1839 to 1840. He is known for creating a Cree-English dictionary while there.
