Daughters of the American Revolution of Michigan.

Hide Profile

The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 as a volunteer women's service organization dedicated to "promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children." The Michigan State Society of the DAR was founded in 1900. Individual local chapters of the DAR had been formed as early as 1893. In 2009, the Michigan Society had a membership of approximately 3000 women members in fifty-four local chapters. As a patriotic organization, the DAR has sought to promote and preserve family and local histories, to promote the celebration of national holidays, "to support our national defense, and to form friendships with others who share our love of God, Home, and Country."
