Ivy Walker Duggan, educator, legislator, and Confederate soldier, was born 22 December 1831, in Washington, Georgia, and died 6 September 1917, in Atlanta, Georgia. He taught in Hancock and Washington counties (Georgia) before the Civil War began. He served with the 15th Georgia Infantry (Hancock Guards), then transferred to the 49th Georgia Infantry. After the war, he taught (1866-1909) in Washington, Sandersville, and Rome, Georgia, and in Alabama. He also served in the Georgia legislature (1886-1887).
