The Savannah Olympic Support Council (SOSCO) was formed in 1991 to help support the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games in organizing the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. SOSCO played a major role in the planning and staging of the Olympic yachting events that were held in Savannah, Georgia. SOSCO was led by Chairman, Archie Davis and Executive Director Jennifer Abshire and as an organization they supported beautification efforts, cultural support, educational and fundraising opportunities in order to prepare Savannah for the 1996 Olympics.
